Michal Shapir
Most weeks you’ll find me enrolled in some course or program (right now it’s, Walking in This World by Julia Cameron), and guaranteed I’m a reading 2-3 books at any given time, while absolutely black hole-ing over a podcast.
confession —
i’m what some would call a life longer learner.
A student of the ages, if you will.
Waaaaaay back in 2011 I did my first ever yoga class on YouTube. Fast forward to 2016, and I found my first ever in person studio. I signed up for Teacher Training immediately and in 2017 I completed my first 200 hours of Yoga Teacher Training. I got so much more than I signed up for. That program gave me glimpses of insight to the deep sacred knowledge of our bodies, and set ablaze my passion for teaching. It sparked a revolution.
Over the next several years, I accrued over 700 hours of a movement related teacher trainings in subjects ranging from Buddhist meditation, to ecstatic dance, and even partner acrobatics.
In that time, I developed a special interest in hand balance, have sought out teachers, and have been fortunate enough to have learned from some of the best hand balancers from all over the globe.
The coolest place I ever balanced was on top of another persons feet!
The Michal I am today is worlds apart from the Michal that started this journey, and I am so deeply grateful for the younger Michal, who followed her curiosity and passion.
After a lifetime of personal practice, and seven years of professional teaching and coaching, I have now fully stepped into my genius; teaching those who wish to teach.
I conduct my programs online, and in person in NYC. My approach to movement, skills and habit building, is playful, grounded, embodied, and joyful.
Movement is not just as a form of exercise—it is a form of personal devotion, exploration, expression, and ultimately acceptance.
